21 unauthorised Gurugram colonies get legal status
On the directions of the Haryana government, the Department of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) on Monday issued a notification regularising and providing legal tags to 21 unauthorised colonies in Gurugram.

The Department of Town and Country Planning notification has regularised these unauthorised colonies located in Manesar, Sohna, Farrukhnagar, Badshahpur and Pataudi, according to a Times of India report.
This decision comes as a huge relief to the hundreds of families residing in these colonies as the government agencies will now provide several amenities to them such as water. roads, and sewer lines. DTCP began to regularise the old unauthorised colonies that are located outside the municipal territories in August last year. A survey was conducted which resulted in recording around 500 unauthorised colonies in and around the city.
As reported by TOI, talking about giving legal tags to the 21 colonies, the District town planner, Manish Yadav said, “DTCP director general TL Satyaprakash has issued directions to take strict action against illegal colonies. We were told to conduct a survey of such colonies and submit a report.”
Yadav added, “Regularisation of the colonies will pave the way for development work. The state will provide funds for this. Those getting the legal tag include four colonies each in Manesar, Farrukhnagar and Sohna, seven in Pataudi, one in Badshahpur and one in Pataudi-Manesar.”
Earlier in June, the state government regularised 11 illegal colonies and considered them to be legal after being approved. The government carried out development work by laying water and sewer lines and also constructed roads in these colonies.
In 2021, the administration undertook a survey on 102 illegal colonies in the city, out of which 60 colonies were found to be eligible for getting legalised. As per the norms, illegal colonies that have a minimum of acres of land and a three-meter-wide road network will be eligible to be legalised by the authorities. These developments of the unauthorised colonies are regularised under the Haryana Management of Civic Amenities and Infrastructure Deficient Areas Outside Municipal Area (Special Provision) Act, 2021.
