The 10-day-long Ganpati Festival across Maharashtra will come to an end with Ganesh Visarjan on Anant Chaturdashi, which falls on September 28. As grand processions will be taken out by Ganpati Mandals for Visarjan, the Pune Traffic Police has issued an advisory for the public and commuters.

Movements on many roads will remain restricted on the Ganpati Visarjan day for smooth traffic management and to maintain law and order.
 
As the immersion of Ganesh idols is going to take place on Thursday, several major roads in central Pune will remain closed. As per the traffic advisory, the traffic restrictions on select routes will remain effective from Thursday to Friday.
Shivaji Road and Laxmi Road will be closed for traffic movement starting from 7 a.m. on September 28 and will conclude after the procession on the next day.
Tilak Road, Bagade Road and Guru Nanak Road will be closed from 9 a.m. on September 28 and it will be opened after the procession on September 29.
Ganesh Road and Kelkar Road will be closed from 10 a.m. on September 28 and will be opened on September 29.
Bajirao Road, Kumthekar Road and Shashtri Road will be shut from 12 p.m. on September 28 and will be opened after the conclusion of the Visarjan procession.
JM. Road, F. C. Road, Karve Road, Bhandarkar Road, Pune- Satara Road, Solapur Road and Prabhat Road will also be closed from 4 p.m. on Thursday, September 28, and will open after the Visarjan.
However, the circular released by Pune Traffic Police also mentioned the alternative routes that one can take during the restrictions. The routes which will remain open for commuters include:
JM. Road: Jhansi Rani Chowk
Shivaji Road: Kakasaheb Gadital Chowk
Laxmi Road: Sant Kabir Chowk
Solapur Road: Seven Luv Chowk
Satara Road: Vholga Chowk
Bajirao Road: Savarkar Statue
Shashtri Road: Senadutt Police Chowki
Karve Road: Nal Stop
F .C. Road: Goodluck Chowk
Apart from the traffic advisory for the city, the district administration has decided to ban heavy vehicles on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway on the day of Ganpati Visarjan. The notice issued by authorities stated that the movement of vehicles weighing 16 tonnes or more on National Highway No 66 will remain restricted from 8 a.m. on September 28 to 8 p.m. on September 29. However, the emergency services such as ambulance services, fire brigade and rescue services, will be allowed on the Expressway.
