A fire broke out at the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) Pise Pumping Station on Monday evening, disrupting the water supply in several parts of Mumbai city, authorities said.
According to BMC officials, the incident will affect the water supply in the eastern suburbs and areas that receive water from the Golanji, Fosbery, Raoli, and Bhandarwada reservoirs in the city.
Sharing the details of the incident and its impact, the civic body said, “BMC administration requests citizens to co-operate and use water judiciously during this period.”

The BMC further said that these areas would have no water supply for 24 hours. Additionally, the supply pressure in the western suburbs and other parts of Mumbai may also be affected, ANI reported.
The administration is currently working to restore the water supply in the affected areas. The BMC has said that the water supply from Mumbai 2 and 3 water lines in the Thane city, Bhiwandi, and outside city areas will also be closed, while the remaining wards, eastern and western suburbs will see a 30% water cut.

Apart from that, areas such as T Ward (East and West); S Ward (Nahur East, Bhandup East, Vikhroli East); N Ward (Vikhroli East, Ghatkopar East, Sarvodaya Nagar, Narayan Nagar); Complete area of M East and M West; Complete area of F South and F North ward; E, B, and A Wards that receive water from the Bhandarwada Reservoir will have a 100% water cut.
Meanwhile, the H-West ward faced a major water cut from February 16, which lasted until February 21 as BMC was fixing the 600mm diameter water channel at its Pali Hill reservoir.
