Farmer leaders from 33 unions who held talks with the government over the past few weeks have ramped up pressure on Centre to repeal the farm laws.
They went on a 9-hour hunger strike at the Singhu border today as the agitation enters day 19. The government has so far agreed to amendments in the farm laws, but have ruled out any possibility of a rollback.
Farmer, on the other hand, have insisted that there should be no going back on their demands for a rollback of the laws and a legal guarantee on the MSP regime. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who was speaking at a FICCI event, said that the government is ready to hold further talks with the farmers.
