Industry bodies CII, FICCI, ASSOCHAM on Monday, March 18, moved the Supreme Court against the sharing of alphanumeric numbers assigned to electoral bonds. The top court has directed the State Bank of India (SBI)
had asked for all details available to be shared. "The SBI should not be selective in disclosing details," the court said.
CII, FICCI, ASSOCHAM have sought an urgent hearing in the matter which the court refused. They have argued that they are comfortable with the names of donors and recipients being disclosed.
They claimed to have moved the court only after it issued notice to the SBI on declaring alpha-numeric serial numbers. The industry bodies had sought deferral of the orders asking for the declaration of alphanumeric numbers.
Earlier in the day, the court pulled up the SBI and said it must disclose serial number details to the EC, and directed the poll panel to publish it forthwith. The top court has directed SBI chairman Dinesh Khara to file an affidavit before March 21 confirming that no bond details have been withheld.
The court said the disclosure details should include – the date, name of the donor, denomination, and details of parties receiving contributions.
