The coronavirus pandemic has dealt a body blow to street vendors across the country. The union government's loan scheme for street vendors has received 52,000 applications in just seven days; this is for micro-loans of up to Rs 10,000.

The government is aiming to push the number of loan applicants to "at least 5 lakh" by September end. A CNBC-TV18 report on how Mumbai's street vendors are coping with the pandemic and if the new loan scheme is finding any takers.
