Ahead of the four-day-long Chhath Puja celebration, top police officials in several cities are taking all measures to ensure heightened security during the four-day celebrations.
While the festival is prominently celebrated in Bihar, Jharkhand and parts of Uttar Pradesh, cities like Delhi, Hyderabad and Noida have also been gearing up for the occasion. The cops are preparing for smooth conduct of the festivities while ensuring no inconvenience to commuters and others.
In view of managing the massive crowd, the authorities in Patna have brought out strategic planning combined with modern technology to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for the devotees and visitors. The Patna Smart City Limited has unveiled that there will be drones for aerial surveillance along with the temporary CCTV cameras, which have been placed along the Ganga riverfront and at the major ghats by the Patna Municipal Corporation.
Additionally, the Regional Commissioner has emphasised the implementation of a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) by the Patna Municipal Corporation. Apart from that, disaster management teams will also be deployed, including NDRF and SDRF teams, along with 60 boats in the river for emergencies.
Meanwhile, Delhi has also been preparing for uninterrupted celebrations of the Chhath Puja. While informing about the preparations, Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai mentioned that this year Chhath Puja will be held at over 1,000 places across the national capital, according to reports.
Additionally, the Delhi Police is also making various arrangements in different areas. The preparations involve the deployment of extra forces and divers, in addition to adequate fencing and barricading at Yamuna River banks, according to a Times of India report.
Gautam Budh Nagar district administration is also placing security measures in view of maintaining the safety and security of devotees during Chhath Puja celebrations in Noida. According to Noida Police, around 200 personnel will be deployed on the Yamuna river banks during the celebration of Chhath Puja along with 20 professional divers for any emergency.
Similarly, the Municipal body in Hyderabad and the Urban Development Department of the state government in Telangana have designated around 70 locations within the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) area where the devotees can perform puja. In view of managing the crowd, the authorities have made the arrangements for the essential infrastructure including water supply, lighting, tents, stages, common public address systems and security personnel, among others, reported The Hindu.
