BMC to cut Mumbai water supply by 10% from February 27 to March 11
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has announced a 10% water cut in parts of Mumbai, including Bandra and Khar West, from Tuesday, February 27. The water supply in these areas will remain affected till March 11, as per the civic body.

BMC is expected to undertake rehabilitation work and strengthening of the old main water channel of Pali Hill Reservoir between February 27 and March 11.
As per the BMC, the 10% reduction in water supply is slated to affect several pockets of H/Ward, including Khar West, Kantwadi, Gazdharband, Dandapada, Sherli Rajan, a few areas of Bandra West, Dilip Kumar zone, Kol Dongri zone, Zig Zag road zone, Pali Mala zone and Union Park zone among others.
“Regular water supply to H/West Ward will resume after March 11 (Monday). The BMC administration earnestly requests residents to co-operate and use water judiciously during this period,” read a bulletin issued by the BMC recently.
The civic body will do the repair and rehabilitation work of the 600-mm old water inlet main pipe of the Pali Hill reservoir, which comes under the H-West ward.
Earlier, the water supply in the H-West ward remained affected from February 16 to 21 as BMC announced plans to fix the 600 mm diameter water channel at its Pali Hill reservoir.
Last month, the water supply to several areas in Mumbai and its suburbs, including Kurla, Powai, Malabar Hill, Dadar, and Lower Parel was affected for two days on January 4 and 5 as the civic body had announced the repair work of a pipeline.
Back then, a leakage was detected on a 900 mm cross-connection between Upper Vaitarna and Vaitarna Lake near Powai, reports said.
BMC said that the Azad Maidan reservoir will witness a 10% cut in water supply. The areas affected included parts of L ward in the eastern suburbs like Upper Tunga, Lower Tunga, Saki Vihar Road, Marva, Raheja Vihar, Chandivali Farm Road, and Sakinaka.
