Air Force Day 2023: IAF all set for the Prayagraj Air Show
The Indian Air Force is all set to show its prowess in a grand spectacle to mark its 91st anniversary in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, on October 8. As a part of the celebration of Air Force Day, a ceremonial parade will be held followed by an aerial display over the Sangam.

According to reports, over 100 aircraft, including Rafale fighter jets, will be part of the IAF air show on Sunday. The air show will also see the participation of Chetak helicopter, indigenously built fighter aircraft Tejas Mirage 2000, Cobra and Su 30.
Notably, this event marks the final participation of the iconic MiG-21 in such displays, according to ANI. Two vintage aircraft, Harvard and Tigermoth, will operate in a unique Luv and Kush formation, while the C-295 aircraft will fly in the Sugreev formation, the news agency added.
Who Will Attend?
The event will be attended by many dignitaries, including Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, UP Governor Anandi Ben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Invitations have also been extended to President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Why Prayagraj?
According to Air Marshal RGK Kapoor, Prayagraj was chosen as the venue due to its expansive grounds at the Sangam confluence area. Unlike previous years held in Hindon, Ghaziabad, this location allows a significantly larger audience to witness the spectacle. Moreover, Prayagraj houses the Central Air Command, adding to the city's significance for hosting such a prestigious event.
Community Involvement
The local district administration, led by District Magistrate Navneet Singh Chahal, is actively engaged in the preparations, reported Hindustan Times. In a recent review meeting, plans were discussed to involve the community, with a call to send 1000 school students for the full dress rehearsal on October 6.
Additionally, 20,000 school students have been invited to attend the main programme on October 8, emphasising the event's focus on inspiring the younger generation, the report added.
Travel Advisory
Flights to Prayagraj from various places have been cancelled between October 3 and 8. This inconvenience stems from the declaration of Bamrauli Air Station as a ‘no flying zone,’ ensuring the safety and security of the celebratory airspace.
