70% upbeat on India as developed economy by 2047: Primus Partners Survey
Over 70% of Indians have expressed optimism about India's potential to become a developed nation by 2047, a year that will also mark 100 years of the country's independence, according to a report from Indian management consulting firm Primus Partners.

Despite this optimism, however, a significant portion of the population still faces challenges related to basic necessities like food, clothing, and shelter—often referred to as "roti, kapda, makaan," the report added.
The report, based on a survey of 2,047 respondents across 25 states and Union Territories, highlights that 58% of respondents prioritise basic needs such as shelter, education, healthcare, and jobs. Additionally, 36% emphasise the importance of equitable income distribution and strengthening public healthcare, while 45% advocate for more accountability through stronger institutions.
Speaking to CNBC-TV18, Nilaya Varma, Co-Founder and CEO of Primus Partners, noted the nuanced nature of these findings. He pointed out that while many Indians are aware of the country's aspiration to become developed by 2047, the optimism is more pronounced among the urban and rural poor compared to the affluent and educated urban population.
Varma highlighted recent government initiatives, such as housing schemes and expanded healthcare insurance, as steps in the right direction to address some of these pressing needs. He emphasised the importance of focusing on day-to-day realities to guide policy decisions and ensure progress toward development goals.
Gopal Jain, Senior Advocate at the Supreme Court, emphasised the significance of the survey's insights, particularly its broad geographic coverage across India. He stressed the need to scale up existing amenities provided by the government to meet the expectations of the common man, especially as India navigates transformative changes in various sectors.
