2003 Mumbai Mulund station blast: When explosion in Karjat-bound train killed 10 people
It's been over two decades since multiple bomb blasts rocked India's financial capital, Mumbai, between December 2002 and March 2003. Wednesday (March 13) marks the 21st anniversary of the major bomb attack at the Mulund Railway Station in Mumbai.

On this date in 2003, a bomb exploded in the ladies' compartment of a Karjat-bound train at the Mulund station during the rush hour in the evening, leaving at least 10 people dead and 70 others injured.
The bomb was placed in the first-class ladies' compartment.
Of the 10 people who died, four were women, including two constables and two passengers in the first-class compartment, while the other six men were in the adjacent second-class compartment.
The March 2003 attack took place after bomb blasts in December 2002 and January 2003 in the city.
In a matter of months, Mumbai city witnessed successive bomb attacks targeting local trains, resulting in multiple casualties and widespread panic. The bomb attacks had a long-lasting impact on the people living in the city.
Over the next few years, several people linked to the attacks were taken into custody by the security forces.
Taking a strong stand, the administration had beefed up security at the railway stations across the city.
In June last year, it was reported that Interpol had detained a person in Canada, who is believed to be CAM Basheer, a former member of SIMI and a suspect in the 2003 train bomb blast case.
Basheer, a Kerala-born aeronautical engineer, was earlier the national president of the Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI). He was listed 43rd on the wanted list of Indian security agencies.
At Mumbai Police's request, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) issued a Red Corner Notice (RCN) against him earlier.
According to police, he was running several terror camps in Saudi Arabia and was responsible for brainwashing many Muslim youths enrolled.
