India's COVID-19 tally saw yet another record surge with both daily cases and deaths hitting new highs.

It's almost a déjà vu for many of us and some of the questions that bothered people during the first wave have returned.
What blood tests do people with symptoms need? When can patients do basic tests and when can patients do advanced ones?
While answering these questions Dr Vivek Nangia, Principal Dir - Pulmonology of Max hospital said, “If you are asymptomatic or mildly symptomatic probably you don't need to do any investigation. If you are moderately symptomatic like fever which is not going, if there is a cough which is not settling, that is the time you should be gearing for advanced testing which will include blood routine test.”
“As far as CT scan is concerned, it will also tell you about the extent of involvement in the lungs but the treatment options are very limited. CT scan becomes important again on day 7-8 if there is a persistent cough, persistent fever, somebody is not settling or if the oxygen levels are dropping,” Nangia added.
