An expert committee of the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) reviewed applications for the emergency-use approval of the COVID-19 vaccines developed by Serum Institute of India and Bharat Biotech.
The subject expert committee has said that it can't recommend granting both vaccines emergency use authorisation just yet because data is inadequate. It has asked both companies to return with more data on trials and other documents.
This is not a rejection, and the application for this recommendation is just the first step in a long process.
