Coronavirus in Delhi LIVE Updates: 1,501 fresh COVID-19 cases takes tally to over 32K; death toll climbs to 984

Delhi recorded 1,501 fresh coronavirus cases on Wednesday, taking the COVID-19 tally in the city to over 32,000, and the death toll due to the disease mounted to 984, authorities said. This is the second time when over 1,500 case have been reported in a day in Delhi. The highest spike in fresh cases -- 1,513-- was recorded on June 3. In a bulletin issued on Wednesday, the Delhi health department said, the death toll from coronavirus infection has risen to 984, and the total number of cases mounted to 32,810. A total of 79 fatalities were reported on June 9, which took place between May 20 and June 8, the bulletin said. Of this, 39 deaths took place on June 7 and 20 on June 6, the bulletin said. It, however, added the cumulative death figures refers to fatalities where primary cause of death was found to be COVID-19, as per the report of the Death Audit Committee on the basis of case sheets received from various hospitals.

Coronavirus in Maharashtra LIVE Updates: Thane district's COVID-19 count rises to 12,941; deaths 433

The coronavirus tally in Thane district of Maharashtra jumped to 12,941 with the addition of 588 cases on Wednesday, the district administration said. With the virus claiming 21 more lives, the death toll in the district increased to 433, it said. Thane city reported eight deaths on Wednesday, while Kalyan and Mira Bhayandar towns reported four deaths each. Five succumbed to the infection in Navi Mumbai, the administration said in its daily report. Thane reported 142 coronavirus positive cases on Wednesday, Navi Mumbai 156, Kalyan 77 and Mira Bhayandar 80, it said.

Coronavirus in India LIVE Updates: Number of flights from Gulf countries raised to 165 from planned 107

The number of flights to operate from Gulf countries under Phase-3 of the Vande Bharat Mission has been increased from planned 107 to 165, Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said on Wednesday. More than 70,000 Indians have returned and nearly 17,000 people have flown out of the country on flights operating under the mission, which began on May 7, Puri said on Twitter. The Air India will operate around 300 flights to Europe, Australia, Canada, the USA, the UK and Africa between June 10 and July 1 during phase-3 of Vande Bharat Mission. "58 more flights added to evacuate stranded & distressed Indian citizens from Gulf countries between now and 30th June 2020. Starting immediately, number of flights from Gulf under phase-3 of Vande Bharat Mission now increased from originally planned 107 to 165," Puri said on Twitter.

Coronavirus in Noida LIVE Updates: 6 policemen hospitalised for COVID-19

Six policemen deployed in Gautam Buddh Nagar are currently undergoing treatment for COVID-19, while four others are in quarantine, officials said on Wednesday. So far, over 300 policemen working in the district have undergone COVID-19 test, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP) Ankur Aggarwal said. "Till now, 19 police personnel have tested positive and 13 of them have been discharged from hospitals. At present, six are hospitalised for treatment," Aggarwal, also the police nodal officer for COVID-19, said. He added that four personnel are currently quarantined as a precaution. The district police had on June 4 said that none of its offices would be closed for work and only sanitation drive will be carried out on premises affected by COVID-19.

Coronavirus in Gujarat LIVE Updates: 510 new COVID-19 cases found in state; 34 patients die

Gujarat reported 510 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, taking the tally to 21,554, while 34 more patients succumbed to the infection, 26 of them in Ahmedabad alone, the state health department said. With the death of 34 more patients, the toll in the state rose to 1,347, it said here. At the same time, 370 patients recovered, taking the number of people discharged so far from hospitals to 14,743, the department said. The state now has 5,464 active cases, of which the condition of 69 patients is critical,the department said. Ahmedabad reported 343 of the 510 new cases in the state, and 26 of the 34 deaths. With this, the case count in Ahmedabad district, the worst-hit by the pandemic in Gujarat, has gone up to 15,305, and the death toll to 1,092.

Coronavirus in J&K LIVE Updates: 28 CRPF personnel test positive for COVID-19

As many as 28 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel posted in Kashmir tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday, officials said. They said the personnel were found infected during a contact-tracing exercise after the death of a 44-year-old constable on June 6 when he succumbed to the disease. Twenty-eight personnel in Kashmir have tested positive for coronavirus on Wednesday, the officials said, adding they belong to the 90th battalion of the force where the deceased constable, a nursing assistant, was posted. All the affected personnel have been isolated and some results are awaited, they said. The troops have been asked to immediately report if they feel any illness of COVID-19 like symptoms, a senior official said.

Coronavirus in J&K LIVE Updates: 161 fresh cases, 2 deaths reported today

Jammu and Kashmir recorded 161 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, taking the total number of infections in the union territory to 4,507, as two fresh deaths pushed the toll to 51, officials said. "As many as 161 new positive cases of coronavirus were detected in the union territory Wednesday," the officials said. They said while 46 of these cases are from Jammu, 117 are from the Kashmir region. The officials said the Wednesday's cases included 29 people who had returned to the union territory recently. Shopian and Kulgam districts witnessed a sudden surge in number of COVID cases as 37 and 28 people tested positive in the two districts respectively, the officials said.

Coronavirus in Maharashtra LIVE Updates: 3,254 fresh cases reported in state, total nears 1 lakh

Maharashtra added 3,254 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours and now the total stands at 94,041. Of this 46,074 cases are active. Around 149 new COVID-19 deaths have been reported. The total death toll has now risen to 3,438. Around 44,517 people have recovered so far, while 1,879 were discharged from hospitals in the past 24 hours. The recovery rate in the state is at 47.34 percent. Out of 5,93,784 laboratory samples, 94,041 have tested positive (15.83 percent). Mumbai added 1,567 cases and the total has now climbed to 52,667. There are 27,109 active cases in the city, with 97 new COVID-19 deaths recorded in the past 24 hours.
