President Droupade Murmu has appointed four full-time members to the 16th Finance Commision.
The gazette notification, dated January 30, mentioned former member of the 15th Finance Comission and former expenditure secretary A N Jha, former special secretary of the department of expenditure Annie George Mathew, f executive director of Artha Global Niranjan Rajadhyaksha and SBI;s group chief economic advisor Soumya Kanti Ghosh, as four full-time members to the the Commision .
Earlier on December 31, 2023 the President had appointed Arvind Panagariya, the former vice-chairman of NITI Aayog and a professor at Columbia University, as the Chairman.
The Chairman and other members of the Commission shall hold office from the date on which they respectively assume office up to the date of submission of report or October 31, 2025, whichever is earlier, the notification stated.
With Tuesday's announcement the constitution of the 16th Finance Commision is complete.
