Paytm Payments Bank on Thursday launched its mobile banking app that will help users check their balances, raise requests for physical debits cards, access digital debit cards, among other features. The users will also be able to receive 24x7 help and support through this app.
"The new app has been introduced exclusively for its bank’s customers to provide a wide range of banking services in a phased manner. The purpose of new app is to segregate its operations from the existing app which caters to customers of several group entities. However, the customers will continue to serve its customers on its older app should its customers desire so. Both apps will co-exist," Satish Kumar Gupta, MD and CEO Paytm Payments Bank said in a statement.
Paytm Payments Bank was launched in May 2017 and already enrolled over 43 million saving bank customers and more than two million physical debit cards have been issued. Virtual debit cards have been given to all the saving bank customers. These cards come with the feature of single click enabling and disabling, in case it is found to be misused.
On the Paytm Payments Bank saving account, the customers earn an annual interest of four percent and the customers can deposit up to Rs 1 lakh in these accounts or wallet.
If the amount goes above Rs 1 lakh, then it is automatically converted into a Fixed Deposit allowing customers to earn up to eight percent interest per annum. The FD is made via auto sweep with a partner bank of the finance unicorn and the user can instantly redeem the desired amount from their FDs at any time, free of charge.
The mobile app is presently available on Google Play store and will soon be available on the Apple app store.
