Net banking restored at private banks, RBI says nothing to worry about
Internet banking services of major private banks — Yes Bank, HDFC Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank and IDFC First Bank — which faced heavy disruption on Tuesday have been restored.

Thousands of customers of these private sector banks complained on Tuesday that their online transactions failed despite multiple attempts. Unfortunately, the widespread disruption came at a time when there is already panic among customers due to the recent suspension of PMC Bank's operations by the Reserve Bank of India.
Disruption in net banking, which was reported for 6 to 7 hours yesterday, further added to the panic among customers, with rumours spreading on social media that this was an alarming situation.
This forced the RBI to come out with a clarification later. It clarified that there was no alarming situation in the Indian banking system and that the sector was safe and stable.
Some banks, however, said that the disruption was because several customers tried to make online payment for their purchases through festive sales.
The central bank put restrictions on PMC Bank for six months owing to understatement of NPAs. This means it cannot accept fresh deposits or provide loans during the period. Withdrawals too are capped at Rs 10,000.
