State-owned Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) of India will send its customers renewal notices via SMS messages instead of sending hard copies of the same.
Every customer of the life insurance firm should have received the below message where the company has intimated the change.
"Dear Customer, we inform you that LIC will send Premium Due Intimations and reminders for your Policy Number xxxx by SMS only, with effect from 01.03.2019," the company said in a message to its customers.
From March 1, the company is likely to send all policy related information and due intimation through SMS if the customer has updated his/her mobile number in the system, media reports said, adding that the company will also use the medium for grievance redressal.
The move will help the customers be in the loop regarding their policies as they can be alerted instantly. The company can also send multiple reminders of the same.
The policyholders should hurry and update their mobile numbers with the company so that they do not miss any communication from the insurer.
