The Southwest Monsoon covers 23 out of 24 districts in Jharkhand. IMD has issued heavy rainfall alert for June 25-26 in parts of Jharkhand which might cause damage to standing crops and water-logging in low lying areas.

IMD says conditions are favourable for further advance of monsoon over more parts of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, remaining parts of Jharkhand and Bihar in the next two days.

Rain lashes parts of Haryana, Punjab

Rains lashed parts of Haryana and Punjab, causing the mercury to dip slightly below the normal limits on Friday, the MeT office said. In Haryana, Ambala, Karnal, Rohtak, Panchkula, Kurukshetra and Fatehabad received rain, they said. In Punjab, Fatehgarh Sahib, SBS Nagar and Rupnagar were lashed by light rains. Chandigarh, the common capital of the two states, also received showers.

UP heat wave made at least two times more likely by climate change, shows analysis

Climate change at least doubled the chances of the recent heat wave in Uttar Pradesh, according to an analysis published by PTI using the Climate Shift Index (CSI). Sixty-eight patients died at a district hospital in Ballia during the heat wave, but officials claim only two deaths were due to heat stroke, it added.
