Uttar Pradesh Weather Live Updates | 7 people killed in rain related incidents in several districts

Seven people were killed in rain-related incidents in the past 24 hours, the Uttar Pradesh Relief Commissioner said in a statement issued here on Monday. According to the statement, five persons died by drowning -- two in Ghazipur, and one each in Etawah, Jalaun and Kanpur Dehat -- while one died due to snake-bite in Kanpur Dehat, and another person died "due to excess rainfall". According to the irrigation department, water level is above the danger level for Ganga in Budaun and Yamuna in Mathura. In UP, 38,378 people in 396 villages are affected due to floods in 10 districts -- Aligarh, GB Nagar, Bijnor, Farukhabad, Ghaziabad, Mathura, Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Shamli and Saharanpur.

The water level of the Yamuna reached 205.92 metres at 4 pm on Monday and remained above the danger mark of 205.33 metres, officials said. The water level of the river was recorded at 205.58 metres at 9 am. "The water has started going down. Now people will be able to go back to their homes from the relief camps. We have to help them to get their life back to normal. I appeal to all people to help them. This is a work of virtue," Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said in a tweet. "Medical camps have been set up and free medical treatment is given in them. Two doctors along with para-medical staff are presently in all the camps. We revied the camps also. 200-250 people are coming to the camps for the checkup. Mostly, doctors are receiving cases of Conjunctivitis. Some are coming with fungal issues. A Disaster Management ward has been set up for the flood-affected people," Delhi Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj said.
