A fresh batch of over 3,000 Amarnath pilgrims left a base camp here for Kashmir on Saturday but their convoy was briefly stopped in Ramban following landslides at two places along the Jammu-Srinagar highway, officials said. Landslides due to rains were reported from Mehar and Dalwas areas along the 270-km highway but after removal of debris traffic movement was restored, officials said.

"Based on the requisition of the District administration, one Mi-17 V5 helicopter is being inducted from Nagpur to evacuate 40 people stranded due to floods in Yuvatmal district," Wg Cdr Ratnakar Singh, Defence PRO Nagpur, said.

Water level in Haryana's Hathnikund barrage rises amid heavy rainfall

The water level in the Hathnikund barrage saw a rapid uptick on Saturday with rains lashing several parts of Punjab and Haryana in the past 24 hours, officials said.Following heavy rains, the water flow rate in the Hathnikund barrage in Haryana's Yamunanagar district rose from 87,177 cusecs at 8 am on Saturday to 2,40,832 cusecs at 12 pm, they added. Read full story here

People trapped in the flood in Yavatmal's Mahagaon will be rescued by Air Force helicopter. "The rescue operation will start after the weather improves. Two people died after the walls of their house collapsed in Yavatmal district. Rescue operation underway by the SDRF in five different places," said Amol Yedge, Collector, Yavatmal
