Delhi weather: National capital records season’s coldest morning at 4.9°C

The air quality in Delhi stood in the ‘very poor’ category today, however, the overall AQI shown a significant improvement.

Following a day in the ‘very poor’ category of air quality in Delhi, the national capital witnessed an improvement in the condition on Friday, December 15 morning. Although the air quality in Delhi stood in the ‘very poor’ category today, the overall AQI showed a significant improvement at it is registered at 306, as per the data monitored by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) at 9AM.

According to the CPCB report of Friday, the air quality index (AQI) at various locations in Delhi stood in the ‘poor’ category, which includes, DTU at 280, Indira Gandhi International Airport at 293, Lodhi Road at 250, New Moti Bagh at 294, and Najafgarh at 262 AQI.
On the other hand, areas including Anand Vihar registered 306 AQI, Ashok Vihar at 329, Burari Crossing at 337, Dwarka at 322, Mandir Marg at 307, Mundka at 301, Narela at 312, Okhla at 303, Patparganj at 319, R K Puram at 360 and Wazirpur at 369. All these locations in Delhi stood in the ‘very poor’ category.
Meanwhile, the visuals from different locations around the city shared by news agency ANI and PTI shows the significant pollution and hazy atmosphere as the winter season has impacted the pollution as well.
In the meantime, the national capital city has recorded the season’s coldest morning on Friday as the mercury plunged below 5 degrees Celsius in the morning. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) report, the national capital’s official observatory Safdarjung recorded a minimum temperature on Friday morning to be 4.9 degrees Celsius.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) mentioned that the visibility will be improved to 1000 metres at 9 AM in Delhi. It also added that the cold north-westerly winds will continue while the minimum temperature is expected to hover between 5-6 degrees Celsius over the next six days.
Fog engulfed in several parts of Delhi on Friday, while very dense fog was observed over the nearby state such as Punjab. Besides Delhi, other parts of northern India recorded less than 500 metres of visibility this morning.
