The highly-anticipated action thriller, Yodha, starring Sidharth Malhotra in the lead role has received a fairly good start at the box office. According to a report by Sacnilk, early estimates show that the film earned ₹4.25 crore at the domestic box office, on day 1.
The film recorded an overall occupancy of 13.86% on the release day. The morning show occupancy was at 10.18%, while night shows touched 20.28% occupancy.
Regions like Mumbai, National Capital Region (NCR), Pune, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad witnessed the most occupancy, with Mumbai topping the charts at 15.50%, followed by NCR region at 14.25%.
Yodha has clashed at the box office with Adah Sharma’s Bastar: The Naxal Story, which also released on Friday, March 15. Both films are also facing tough competition from Ajay Devgn and R Madhavan’s horror thriller starrer Shaitaan, which was released in the first week of March. Initially, Yodha was meant to clash with Sriram Raghavan's Merry Christmas headlined by Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi.
With multiple films vying for viewer’s attention, Yodha has offered a ‘buy one get one free’ offer on film tickets, film critic and analyst Taran Adarsh shared. Yodha has been filmed by Pushkar Ojha and Sagar Ambre, and backed by Dharma Productions, Amazon Prime Video, and Mentor Disciple Entertainment. Apart from Sidharth Malhotra, the film also features Raashii Khanna, Disha Patani, Ronit Roy, and Tanuj Virwani in crucial roles.
Sidharth Malhotra was last seen in Rohit Shetty’s debut web series Indian Police Force. In it, he featured alongside Shilpa Shetty, Vivek Oberoi, Shweta Tiwari, and Sharad Kelkar among others. The web series also served as Sidharth Malhotra’s web series debut. Before that, Sidharth enjoyed tremendous success with Shershaah which was released on Amazon Prime Video in 2021.
