Legendary actress Sridevi died on February 24, 2018, at the age of 54. She breathed her last in Dubai where she was to attend her nephew Mohit Marwah's wedding. Popularly known as the first female superstar of Indian cinema, Sridevi appeared in around 300 films. Through her versatile acting skills, she won the hearts of millions worldwide and became one of the rarest multilingual actors in Indian cinema to have achieved stardom in the Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada film industries.

In a career spanning over five decades, Sridevi was honoured with several prestigious awards and was also given the Padma Shri -- India's fourth highest civilian honour -- in 2013.
Sridevi made her acting debut at the age of four with the 1967 Tamil film Kandhan Karunai. Later, in 1972, she made her first appearance in Bollywood in the 1972 film Rani Mera Naam.
Soon after, she went on to star in blockbuster movies like Mawaali, Justice Chaudhury, Tohfa, Masterji, Karma, Mr. India, and Chandni. She even received critical acclaim for her performances in Sadma, Nagina, ChaalBaaz, Lamhe, Khuda Gawah, Gumrah, Laadla, and Judaai.
After a long hiatus, she returned to acting with the 2012 comedy-drama English Vinglish. Her last on-screen appearance was in Mom in 2017.

What's her real name?
Sridevi was born Shree Amma Yanger Ayyapan on August 13, 1963. She took the name Sridevi after she started acting in films.
Dubbing issues
While Sridevi made her debut in the Hindi film industry with Rani Mera Naam in 1972, she never dubbed dialogues for her Bollywood films till Chandni was released in 1989. Yesteryear actress Naaz used to dub Sridevi's voice in films as she couldn't speak Hindi and English.
Sridevi rejected Steven Spielberg's 'Jurassic Park'
Sridevi had turned down a role in the iconic Hollywood film Jurassic Park by Steven Spielberg. As per reports, she refused to be a part of the project after she felt the role did not offer her enough scope to display her acting skills.
Highest-paid female actor
Sridevi was considered the highest-paid actor in Indian cinema during the peak of her career, especially when female stars were not getting their due.
The hit Jodi of Sridevi and Krishna
Sridevi worked with late actor Krishna in over two dozen films in the Telugu film industry. The duo was a hit pair during the late 1970s and early 1980s.
