The film, directed by Vikas Bahl, received mixed to good reviews from reviewers on Friday. Thus far, public opinion has been decent, with Ajay Devgn, R Madhavan and Janki Bodiwala’s performances receiving recognition. This positive feedback has resulted in the film seeing an increase in ticket sales on Saturday.
According to Koimoi, Shaitaan collected Rs 4.20 crores in gross tickets on day 1. The movie witnessed a 19% increase on day 2 and has now brought in Rs 5 crores from the sale of nearly 1.96 lakh tickets.
Shaitaan is an adaptation of the Gujarati film Vash. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) gave the movie a U/A certificate before its release, recommending a few edits. The trailer suggests that the central theme of Shaitaan is dark magic. The Censor Board has requested the addition of a voiceover disclaimer stating, “The film does not support/endorse black magic,” as reported by Bollywood Hungama. The movie has also been directed to incorporate a message about alcohol usage. The final runtime after these modifications is 132 minutes.
Shaitaan tells the story of a man, played by Ajay Devgn, whose family faces torment from a mysterious stranger while on vacation. The film is produced by Ajay Devgn, Kumar Mangat Pathak, Jyoti Deshpande, and Abhishek Pathak and is presented by Jio Studios, Devgn Films and Panorama Studios.
