Bollywood actor Sidharth Malhotra shared anecdotes of his days of struggle in Mumbai on Wednesday, March 20. At News18’s Rising Bharat Summit, he candidly talked about his journey in the film industry to become an actor, which was not a cakewalk.
He shared that his first paycheck was ₹2,500–3,000 that he earned by modelling in an advertisement for a Samsung mobile phone. He said that Anubhav Sinha called him, following which he trained for a year, practiced his lines, had script discussions multiple times, and prepared himself for the movie. However, the project does not go forward as Sinha received an offer for another project.
Talking about his days as an assistant director in Mumbai, Malhotra said that while living in Mumbai, he paid ₹11,000 rent to live in a 1.5-bedroom house in Mumbai’s Juhu along with two other people. Malhotra shared that he had the best time even though he lived in a small room with a single bed and cupboards.
While working as an assistant director in production houses, he featured as a model for clothing brands, which earned him ₹35,000 to ₹40,000 for a day’s shoot.
In the recently released action thriller ‘Yodha’, Malhotra has featured in the lead role alongside Raashii Khanna and Disha Patani. Earlier this year, he made his OTT debut with Rohit Shetty’s web series 'Indian Police Force', which also stars Shilpa Shetty and Vivek Oberoi.
He made his Bollywood debut in 2012 with Karan Johar's directorial 'Student of The Year'. This movie also marked the debut in the Indian film industry for Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt.
