Popular actor Rio Kapadia passed away at the age of 66. The veteran actor had gained popularity for his work in films like ‘Chak De India’, ‘Dil Chahta Hai’ and ‘Happy New Year’.
Kapadia was last seen in Amazon Prime Video series ‘Made In Heaven Season 2’. The actor breathed his last on Wednesday, September 13.
The news was confirmed by one of his friends, Faisal Malik, India Today reported.
The actor’s death comes as a shock for the Hindi film industry. Colleagues and friends from the industry paid their tributes to the late actor. As per the latest reports, the actor's last rites will be held on Friday at the Shiv Dham Shamshan Bhumi in Goregaon, Mumbai.
His family is yet to share a statement about the death of the actor and no details are known about the cause of death.
The actor is survived by his wife, Maria Farah, and children Aman and Veer.
Bollywood star Abhishek Bachchan tweeted, "Was very sad to read of the passing of Rio Kapadia. We worked together on Happy New Year and The Big Bull. Most gentle, articulate and caring. He was also a wonderful painter. I have many of his sketches. You will be remembered very fondly, sir. My condolences to his family and friends."

A popular face in television shows and films, Rio Kapadia has worked in TV shows like ‘Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke’, ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’, and Siddharth Tewary's ‘Mahabharat’, among others. Besides that, he has also worked in films like ‘Dil Chahta Hai’, ‘Chak De India’, ‘Happy New Year’, ‘Mardaani’, and ‘Khuda Hafiz’.
He was recently seen in ‘Made in Heaven 2’ and he portrayed the role of Mrunal Thakur's character's father.
Apart from being an actor, Kapadia was also in sketching. His Instagram page is full of his sketches including some famous actors like Naseeruddin Shah, Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, and late actors Rishi Kapoor and Dilip Kumar.
