Quite a perfectionist in his genre with films like Aligarh, Shahid, and Omerta to name a few, Hansal Mehta is back with another interesting venture, this time as the showrunner. Featuring Rajat Kapoor and Amruta Khanvilkar in the lead roles, the upcoming show titled Lootere revolves around how an Indian cargo ship is struck by kidnapping and ransom in Somalian waters. All set to premiere on Disney Plus Hotstar this month, the trailer of Lootere was unveiled on Wednesday, 6 March, promising to be a gripping pirate attack saga.

The 2-minute 11-second trailer shows a powerful narrative with Rajat Kapoor stepping into the shoes of a captain and observing three unidentified boats approaching his ship, prompting him to immediately order moving to the citadel for safety. However, what follows is an unexpected whirlwind of struggles for survival, greed, chaos, and terror.
The trailer also gives a glimpse into the character of Vikrant Gandhi, played by Vivek Gomber. Sharing the trailer on Instagram, the streaming giant wrote, "All Hands on Deck! #HotstarSpecials #Lootere official trailer. Streaming from 22nd March.:
As soon as the trailer was released, fans were quick to share their reactions. Many seemed impressed with the thrilling narrative of the upcoming web show. A user wrote, "Wow!! This looks so good! Extremely proud of you!!", while another one commented, "What an apt culmination of much perseverance, talent, and love..."
Directed by Jai Mehta, Lootere features Rajat Kapoor, Amruta Khanvilker, Aamir Ali, and Vivek Gomber. While Hansal Mehta serves as the showrunner, it was created under the banner of Karma Media and Entertainment.
Lootere will premiere on Disney Plus Hotstar on 22 March 2024.
Earlier, while speaking about the show, the director-writer said that Lootere attempts to bring a story of power and greed spiralling into an international hijacking crisis and the attempts of the crew to escape it, further promising that the story is bound to take the audience on an emotional as well as a thrilling adventure.
