Farhan Akhtar's Excel Entertainment on Tuesday welcomed actor Kiara Advani on board for the upcoming action-thriller Don 3, opposite Ranveer Singh. Amid a growing buzz over the female lead for the much-awaited film, the makers put all speculations to rest and officially announced Kiara's name on social media.
“Welcome to the Don universe @advani_kiara #Don3," Akhtar wrote on social media site X alongside a video welcoming the Shershah actress to the 'Don' franchise.

Kiara said she was thrilled to be part of the project and sought “love and support” from fans.
“Thrilled to be part of the iconic Don franchise and to be working with this incredible team! Seeking all your love and support as we set out on this exciting journey together,” she wrote on X.
In August last year, the makers announced Ranveer Singh as the new ‘Don’ for the upcoming third film in the popular franchise. The special announcement video featured Ranveer sitting in a building with his back facing the camera. He then lit up a cigarette and introduced himself as ‘Don’ -- an iconic character -- previously portrayed by megastar Amitabh Bachchan and superstar Shah Rukh Khan.
‘Don’, the first film in the franchise, was released in 2006 and starred Shah Rukh, Priyanka Chopra, and Boman Irani in lead roles. It was directed by Farhan Akhtar. A sequel to the film, titled ‘Don 2’, was released in 2011 and saw Shah Rukh reprising the role, which was originally played by Amitabh Bachchan in the 1978 film of the same name.
In a post last year, Farhan Akhtar asked the fans to show Ranveer Singh the same love that they gave to Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan.
“In 1978, a character created by Salim-Javed and portrayed by Amitabh Bachchan with effortless elan captured the imagination of theatregoers across the country. That enigmatic character was Don. In 2006, Don was reimagined and brought to life by Shah Rukh Khan in his own irresistibly charming way,” he wrote.
'Don 3' is slated for release in 2025.
