Imtiaz Ali says there will be no sequel to Jab We Met
Filmmaker Imtiaz Ali’s 2007 blockbuster movie Jab We Met has been one of the most loved Bollywood films. Even 16 years after its release the movie has a strong fan following and rumours about its sequel often emerge on social media.

Meanwhile, Imtiaz Ali has addressed these rumours about the making of the Jab We Met sequel in an exclusive chat with News18. He clearly denied a sequel to the hit romantic drama.
“No, it’s not happening,” Ali said.
Talking further about the speculations about the sequel as claimed in different media reports, he said, “I don’t have a story for Jab We Met 2 yet. I’ve heard of these and read these reports and articles. Nobody asked me before publishing them, so I don’t know what to say. But let’s see what happens.”
‘Jab We Met’ not only gained popularity among the viewers for its story but it also was one of the most talked about movies because of the off-screen relationship of the lead pair, Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor. The movie is also considered a milestone in the careers of both of them.
The rumours of a sequel started floating around after Shahid Kapoor recently spoke about his possible collaboration with Imtiaz Ali during a Twitter chat session in June, this year. Following the session, one of the actors’ fans asked, “I’ve noticed that you and Imtiaz Ali have been interacting a lot recently! Is there any project in the works?”, to which the actor replied, “Smart Boy”.
However, as the filmmaker has now clarified the rumours, it is speculated that the actor-director duo might be soon coming with some other project.
Currently, Imtiaz Ali is working on his upcoming movie, Chamkila. It is going to feature Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra. The Tamasha director spoke about Chamkila in an interview with News18.
“It’s coming pretty soon. Shooting for Chamkila felt very different as a filmmaker. It involved a lot of unlearning, which is why I felt very fresh while making and I’m sure that the audience will also witness this once they watch it,” Ali said.
