Government unveils SOPs for reopening of cinema theatres from October 15

The ministry of information and broadcasting on Tuesday issued a Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the re-opening of cinema halls, theatres, and multiplexes from October 15. The two new guidelines include model seating arrangement and staggered show timings for multiple screens.

"No exhibition of films shall be allowed in containment zones," stated the guideline clearly. In areas outside the containment zones, the ministry has allowed up to 50 percent of seating capacity with adequate physical distancing norms being followed.
Here are the SOP guidelines to follow:
  • No exhibition of the film shall be allowed in containment zones.
  • The physical distancing of 6-feet outside auditoriums, common areas & waiting areas.
  • Availability of hand sanitizers, preferably in the touch-free mode.
  • Respiratory etiquettes to be strictly followed.
  • Installation & use of the Aarogya Setu app shall be advised.
  • The thermal screening of visitors/staff is to be carried out at entry points.
  • Only asymptomatic individuals shall be allowed to enter the premises.
  • Exit should be done in a staggered row-wise manner to avoid crowding.
  • Occupancy shall not be more than 50% of the total seating capacity.
  • Seats ‘Not to be occupied’ shall be marked as such during the booking.
  • The number of people in the elevators shall be restricted.
  • Staggered show timings shall be followed for multiple screens.
  • Digital no-contact transactions for issue/verification/payments.
  • The contact number shall be taken at the time of the booking of tickets.
  • The purchase of tickets at the Box Office shall be open throughout the day.
  • Frequent sanitization of the entire premises, common facilities.
  • The auditorium shall be sanitised after every screening.
  • The temperature setting of air conditioning devices in the range of 24-30 Celsius.
  • Relative humidity should be in the range of 40-70 percent.
  • Re-circulation of air to be avoided to the extent possible.
  • The intake of fresh air should be as much as possible.
  • Only packaged food & beverages shall be allowed.
