'Dunki' box office collection Day 2: Shah Rukh Khan's film mints ₹ 20.5 crore
Dunki, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan's third film in 2023, witnessed a significant drop in its collection at the box office on the second day of its release on Friday.

According to sacnilk.com, the Rajkumar Hirani directorial minted ₹29.2 on its opening day on Thursday and ₹20.5 crores on Friday. The film's net domestic collection has now reached ₹49.7 crore.
These numbers are much less than the opening day figures of Shah Rukh's last two films, Pathaan and Jawan. Pathaan had collected ₹57 crore and Jawan made around ₹75 crore on the opening day.
On Friday, Dunki had an overall occupancy of 31.22%.
In the Delhi-NCR region, the film had 988 shows and had a total occupancy of 33%, while in Mumbai, Dunki had 700 shows, witnessing an occupancy of 46%.
According to sacnilk.com, the film had an occupancy of less than 25% in morning and afternoon shows on Friday. A jump was seen in the evening and night shows where it received overall occupancy of 34.32% and 49.29%, respectively.
The significant decline in the numbers of Dunki can be attributed to Prabhas-starrer Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire, which received a huge response upon its release on Friday (December 22).
According to Red Chillies Entertainment, Dunki collected ₹58 at the global box office on its first day.
On Saturday, Dunki is reportedly witnessing a significant jump at the box office, trade expert Sumit Kadel said.
"#Dunki is having BIG GROWTH in the range of 40 -50% Today (Saturday) Over Friday. The film is eying ₹29-30 cr biz on its 3rd Day if the growth sustains till night," Kadel wrote on 'X', previously known as Twitter.
Dunki, which is based on an illegal immigration technique named 'donkey flight', also features Taapsee Pannu, Boman Irani, and Vicky Kaushal among others.
The film marks Shah Rukh's first collaboration with Rajkumar Hirani, who has previously helmed movies like 3 Idiots, PK, and Munna Bhai M.B.B.S..
Dunki has been written by Hirani, Abhijat Joshi, and Kanika Dhillon.
