Ranbir Kapoor's Animal, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, continued its box office run on Sunday, setting new records despite receiving mixed to negative reviews. The action-packed film surpassed the three-day collection of Siddharth Anand’s Pathaan and entered the ₹200 crore club in India and the ₹350 crore club worldwide within three days, making it the second film of the year to achieve this after Jawan.
On its third day, Animal garnered an estimated ₹72.50 crore in the domestic market, marking an 8.5% increase in daily box office earnings compared to the previous day. The three-day domestic net collection reached ₹202.57 crore, closely trailing Jawan's ₹206.06 crore and surpassing Pathaan's Rs 166.75 crore. Trade analyst Ramesh Bala reported a worldwide gross collection of ₹360 crore for Animal in its opening weekend.
While Animal posted a strong box office performance, it faced criticism for misogyny, violence, and vulgarity. Despite the controversies, the film maintained high occupancy rates on Sunday, with an overall occupancy of 79.05% in the Hindi market.
Morning shows started with a 65.53% occupancy, gradually increasing to 84.58% during the afternoon and reaching 86.42% in the evening. The percentage slightly dipped to 79.66% during the night screenings.
