54th IFFI opens in Goa: Madhuri Dixit, Shahid Kapoor grace opening ceremony; check where to watch

The 54th edition of International Film Festival of India (IFFI) will be inaugurated by Union Minister Anurag Thakur and the opening ceremony will be followed by a series of performances by several Bollywood stars.

The 54th edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) begins today, November 20, at the Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Indoor Stadium in Panaji, Goa. The event will begin with a grand opening ceremony and it will be inaugurated by the Union Minister, Anurag Thakur.

The inaugural ceremony will see performances by Madhuri Dixit, Shahid Kapoor, Nushrratt Bharuccha, Shreya Ghosal and Sukhwinder Singh, among others. Additionally, the festival will be attended by Salman Khan, Ayushmann Khurrana, Vicky Kaushal, Karan Johar, Siddharth Malhotra and several other Bollywood stars.
The inaugural ceremony will be followed by the screening of the British film, Catching Dust by Stuart Gatt. The movie narrates the complicated relationship between a wife and her husband with a criminal background.
According to a PIB release, the event will be having 13 World premieres, 18 International premiers, 62 Asia premieres and 89 India premieres. With a total number of 2,926 entries from 105 participating countries, it marks thrice the number of total international submissions the previous year.
At the 54th edition of IFFI, 19 award-winning films from various international film festivals this year have been selected in the Kaleidoscope section. Meanwhile, the ‘Indian Panorama’ section is going to showcase 25 feature films and 20 non-feature films from India—with the opening films in the feature selection and the non-feature selection to be the Malayalam film Aattam and the Manipuri language film Andro Dreams, respectively, reported Hindustan Times.
Filmmaker Shekhar Kapur will be the jury head for the 54th edition of IFFI at Goa. Meanwhile, the five-member jury panel will include Spanish cinematographer Jose Luis Alcaine, and producers Jerome Paillard, Catherine Dussart, and Helen Leake. Filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani is heading the five-member jury for the best web series (OTT) category, which is a new category this year at IFFI.
This year, Hollywood actor and producer Michael Douglas will be honoured with the Satyajit Ray Lifetime Achievement Award. He will also be conducting a masterclass session at the festival. He holds two Oscars, five Golden Globe Awards, a Primetime Emmy Award, besides countless other honours.

The opening ceremony will be broadcast live on DD National and will also be live-streaming on its YouTube channel.
Additionally, Colors channel will also be broadcasting the event as Viacom Media Private Ltd. is the exclusive media and broadcasting partner of the opening and closing ceremonies. Besides, one can also watch the event on the OTT platform JioCinema.
