Schools in Gurugram and Faridabad till class 5 shut from today until further notice
The Gurugram administration has taken a proactive step to safeguard the health of school children amidst the escalating pollution levels in the National Capital Region (NCR). As a precautionary measure, classes from nursery to class five have been suspended until further notice.

In a parallel move, Faridabad's Deputy Commissioner Vikram Singh has also issued an order to close schools for children from class one to five starting from Tuesday until further notice.
Gurugram District Disaster Management Authority Chairman and DC Nishant Kumar Yadav issued the order in this regard on Monday. Schools have been ordered to continue online studies so that the education of students is not disrupted, reported PTI.
The Air Quality Index (AQI) in the district has reached an alarming level over the past week, with Monday's reading hitting 412. This unfortunate situation has led the industrial district to be ranked as the fifth most polluted city in the country.
The suspension of classes will apply to all educational institutions, both private and government, in the district, beginning from November 7, and will remain in effect until further notice. Yadav emphasized that the persistent deterioration in the air quality index has pushed the situation to GRAP IV stage, necessitating these measures.
Prior to this decision, the Haryana government had entrusted the deputy commissioners in the NCR with the responsibility of evaluating the situation in their respective districts and deciding on school closures.
Over the past few days, several districts, including Gurugram, have witnessed the AQI levels reaching the 'severe' category, underscoring the gravity of the pollution crisis. On Monday morning, pollution levels in Delhi-NCR remained approximately seven to eight times higher than the government-prescribed safe limit, as a hazardous haze persisted over the region for the seventh consecutive day.
