Delhi Finance Minister Kailash Gahlot is presenting the budget for the financial year 2023-24 with Rs 78,800 crore. The education sector was allocated Rs 16575 crore which is a slight growth from the 2022-23 Delhi Budget, where the sector received the highest allocation of Rs 16,278 crore.

Gahlot also announced that government Schools and teachers will be given new tablets. Further the AAP government will also work providing 20 new computers to each government school in Delhi. In FY 2023-2024, 350 schools will be covered under this scheme.
Further he announced the opening 17 new Dr BR Ambedkar Schools of Specialised Excellence (SoSEs).
In a first, schools would work with businesses to build professional skills for kids in the schools itself through "Schools of Applied Learning," according to Gahlot, who presented the education budget.
Gahlot also informed that the first semesters of the Delhi Model Virtual School and the Shaheed Bhagat Singh Armed Forces Preparatory School have begun.
“Our Education Revolution relies firmly on integration of technology in the classroom. In 2018, the Kejriwal Govt provided tablets to all our teachers. In 2023-24, the Govt will again provide new tablets to all teachers, principals, vice principals & DDE,” said the finance minister in a tweet.
“We must equip Delhi’s children for the 21st Century-a digital era, wherein computer skills are essential for all. To further strengthen our children’s competency for this new age, 20 computers each will be provided across 350 schools of the Delhi Govt,” he added.
Kailash Gahlot delivered the budget for the first time since taking over the finance ministry after deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia resigned after being detained by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with the Delhi Excise Policy Scam case.
"I would have been happier if this budget was presented by Manish Sisodia who is like my elder brother. The budget is an expression of expectations and aspirations of the people," Gahlot said in his budget speech.
