16-year-old NEET aspirant dies by suicide in Kota, says police, 25th case this year

Authorities are conducting an initial investigation into the matter. According to reports, the student had not been attending several classes at the coaching centre in recent months. However, the reason behind the move remains unclear.

Kaushlya Galaur, the Station House Officer of Vigyan Nagar, stated that no suicide note was discovered in her room. The police will conduct a thorough search of her room once her parents arrive in the city, he said. The body has been sent for an autopsy at the district medical college hospital to determine the cause of death, the HT report added.

This is the 25th suicide case in Kota this year. Just a week ago, another female student from Jharkhand died by suicide in Kota, the coaching hub for various competitive exams.

The situation has drawn widespread attention and concern, especially after two NEET aspirants from Bihar and Maharashtra also died by suicide on August 27, hours after appearing for the coaching institute’s weekly test.

An 18-year-old student from Bihar also died by suicide on August 15. The deceased student was preparing for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE).
