After meeting union finance minister Arun Jaitley on Thursday, Kerala finance minister Thomas Isaac pitched for a pan-India cess on luxury goods for the redevelopment of Kerala, which was devastated by the floods.
In an interview to CNBC-TV18's Timsy Jaipuria, Isaac said that he had asked for additional funds from the finance ministry to rebuild the flood-hit state.
"There are three types of supports in such a calamity. One is the support of the central personnel, particularly armed forces in the rescue operations and so on. We are very thankful to the government of India for being very cooperative and helpful. Second is relief support, which is governed by disaster management funds and that home ministry is looking," Isaac said.
