Hitesh Oberoi, MD and CEO of Info Edge, discussed how hiring in the IT sector is panning out.
“The IT sector has done well for us for the last four-five quarters. A lot of our growth in Naukri over the last year or so has been driven by hiring that we see in Bangalore, Chennai, Pune and Hyderabad which are primarily IT markets. These companies continue to do well, continue to hire, attrition rates are also up in many of these companies, so it is not just about net hiring, it is also about gross hiring as far as we are concerned,” Oberoi told CNBC-TV18 on Monday.
“As far as we are concerned, we are not seeing any signs of a major slowdown,” he added.
According to Oberoi, "At this point in time, there is no slowdown in IT hiring. One doesn’t know what is going to happen going forward. As far as non-IT hiring is concerned, it is very sectoral. There are some sectors which continue to do well like healthcare, education, hospitality but there are sectors which are in trouble for a while like construction, real estate, infrastructure, auto."
“I think real estate will go through its up and down before it recovers finally,” he said.
