Waste water isn't normally discussed in daily life. But conserving it is as important as conserving fresh water, say scientists at the National Dairy Research Institute (NDRI).

The scientists at the NDRI in Karnal, Haryana, are working on ways to conserve waste water. It is particularly useful for dairy farmers in places like Rajasthan.
Waste water from dairy farms is collected in a water tank and purified before being used. This water can be used for irrigating crops, with the added advantage of providing nutrition to plants.
The scientists have found a way to convert waste water into water suitable for animals to drink.
Fresh water is not a finite resource and that’s why the development of efficient waste water systems is critical. It puts to use a resource which is otherwise ignored.
