If you are an NRI in the United States, it will be difficult for you to hoist made in India flag in your front yard, as courier delivery services don’t want to send the tricolour across Indian borders, reported The Economic Times.
Most international courier companies such as FedEx, TNT, UPS, DHL, do not accept the shipment of the national flag overseas, the report said, adding that the reason for such refusal is unknown. The only way to send a flag across the border is by marking the consignment as “sample fabric,” added the report.
The home ministry officials said the flag code does not particularly prohibit the shipment, the daily said.
The courier companies are reluctant to ship tricolour across border as they feel that such flags are “restricted items,” the daily said quoting people familiar with the matter.
