Revenue collections from Goods and Services Tax (GST) rose to Rs 94,442 crore in the month of September, from
Rs 93,690 crore in August, data released by union finance ministry showed.
Out of the total collection, central goods and services tax (CGST) was Rs 15,318 crore, state goods and services tax (SGST) of Rs 21,061 crore, integrated goods and services tax (IGST) of Rs 50,070 crore (including Rs 25,308 crore collected on imports) and cess of Rs 7,993 crore (including Rs 769 crore collected on imports).
According to the estimates made in the 2018-19 union budget by the revenue department, the government expects a monthly average of GST collections of Rs 1.15 lakh crore.
The total number of returns filed for the month of August up to September 30 is 67 lakh, the statement said.
The total revenue earned by central government and the state governments after settlement in the month of September, 2018 is Rs 30,574 crore for CGST and Rs 35,015 crore for the SGST, the release said.
In its
30th meeting, GST Council on September 28 formed a group of minister to look into Kerala government's cess proposal, the details of which will be shared in the next two days, said Kerala's finance minister Thomas Isaac.
The Kerala government has requested for allowing to levy a 10 percent cess to raise revenues for flood related rehabilitation works.
