Government's e-marketplace GeM set to launch a nationwide outreach programme
For over one and a half years the centre and state governments have been procuring general goods and services such as computers, office stationery and furniture through government's e-marketplace called GeM.
Till date, the B2B e-commerce portal has seen procurement worth Rs 11,000 crore. Now, this portal is set to launch a nationwide outreach programme and the target is to increase annual procurement to Rs 3 to 4 lakh crore in five years.
