In this special episode of "Election Trending", CNBC-TV18 puts together the top highlights of all the action unfolding on social media.

On "Election Trending", CNBC-TV18 breaks down Twitter data from the first phase of the elections and union minister Maneka Gandhi finds herself trending after controversial remarks about Muslims.
Also, the first day of elections saw over 45 million tweets coming in and we now know what and who people were tweeting about.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi was the most talked about the politician and the BJP swept the top three spots, with BJP chief Amit Shah and Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath coming in second and third.
Coming to the opposition, Congress president Rahul Gandhi came in the fourth position and his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra rounded occupying the fifth position.
As for topics of conversation, national security and religion took the top two spots, with jobs, agriculture and taxes and trade completing that list. So advantage BJP as far as tweets are concerned. However, Maneka Gandhi made it to the trend charts for all the wrong reasons today.
