The weather has been a concern for some time now. 2018 broke a 33-year record of being hit by seven cyclones. 2019 might see that record broken. Cyclone Bulbul, over the Bay of Bengal, is the seventh of this year and has intensified and is expected to hit West Bengal soon.

RK Jenamani, senior scientist at the India Meteorological Department (IMD) explained that phenomenon.
“Bulbul is over the Bay of Bengal. Earlier all the cyclones were in the Arabian Sea but now Bulbul is over the west-central Arabian sea. Right now, it is a very severe cyclonic storm. It may further intensify. There are chances of another level of intensification in the next 12 hours. It is moving in the northern direction. The impact will be over West Bengal and adjoining Bangladesh across Sundarbans island,” he said.
Speaking about rainfall, he added, “Maybe another 12-15 hours or maximum one day of rainfall is expected but I think the dry spell will start in Maharashtra and Gujarat from tomorrow. I don’t think any further rain over Mumbai or Ahmedabad for another 10-15 days or for a month.”
“Whatever rain will be there, it will be restricted to south of Goa or to Kerala from northeast monsoon that we usually get in November till mid-December. From November 11 and November 12 even Odisha and West Bengal will get a clear sky,” said Jenamani.
