Citizen's Monetary Policy Committee: Experts discuss how to fight stagflation
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and the monetary policy committee (MPC) could meet soon. Although the scheduled date is August 7, in the last 2 occasions, the MPC has met 2 weeks earlier. Keeping this in mind, CNBC-TV18 has also invited its Citizens Monetary Policy Committee two weeks ahead of schedule.

Keeping this in mind, CNBC-TV18 has also invited its Citizens Monetary Policy Committee two weeks ahead of schedule. This committee has Samiran Chakraborty, chief economist at Citi, Pronab Sen, former chief statistician, Sonal Varma, chief economist- India and Asia ex-Japan at Nomura, Soumya Kanti Ghosh, group chief economic advisor at the State Bank of India (SBI) and Sajjid Chinoy, chief India economist at JP Morgan.
The MPC meets in a somber backdrop gross domestic product (GDP) figures for the current year are ranging between -5 and -10 percent and yet inflation figures which is what the MPC should be looking at, have been shockingly high at 6.09 percent in June.
