Eveready Industries reported strong earnings for the quarter ended December 2020 with healthy turnover in the battery segment led by around 8 percent volume growth, while lighting and appliances also witnessed a decent recovery.

The company expects to improve cash flows and reduce debt going ahead.
Speaking to CNBC-TV18, Amritanshu Khaitan, Managing Director of Eveready Industries said that his focus was to deliver strong performance at least at the operating level thereby generating strong cash flows which would be able to get Eveready to reduce its debt going forward.
“This year has been positive for the battery category per se because of Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has become mandatory and thereby cheap battery from China have seen a significant reduction. Therefore, we have seen 7-8 percent volume growth and Q4 should again see strong volume growth but that is taking into account the base effect of March 2020 where due to lockdown we had a sharp decrease in sales,” Khaitan said.
On promoter stake, Khaitan said, “From an operations point of view the company is run by me currently. We are focused on growing the company in terms of operations and scaling the profitability.”
“Regarding the Burmans, they have invested in the company and have a stake close to 19 percent. Promoters have had an issue at the holding company due to which our holding has come down, but operations are not impacted in any manner with whatever is happening at the promoter level,” he said.
