“If you look at the business, the low unit price items are becoming relevant, but even if I look at large packs right now where the consumer need is being answered, consumers are coming and trying. But, if you see in modern trade, we do see a bit of slowdown,” Aneja told CNBC-TV18.
Consumption slowdown
Speaking about the slowdown in consumption, she said, the company is not divorced from what larger country goes through.
"So, the need for creating demand, the need for ensuring that there is more money in the market for spurring the consumption demand, I think absolutely is the need of the hour.”
“However, when it comes to us introducing new products in the segment, I think the philosophy that we really followed is bring in benefits that consumers are willing to pay more for. Consumers see value when the brand helps you unlock a benefit that they did not have,” she added.
Aneja said that they have been invested in India for a long time.
“We have been very focused on saying be clear about what consumer problem are you solving for, stay committed, help consumers learn a new habit and then build a category over a long period of time. We are invested in India for the long time; of course times are tough, but it is our job to be able to create the needs.”
