The government's overall financial packages to stimulate the economy and to protect businesses from the impact of COVID-19 have been welcomed by several businesses. However, the food and beverage sector (F&B) has been entirely ignored with no financial support being offered to them.

While the Federation of Hotel & Restaurant Associations of India (FHRAI) urged the government for some relaxations, there have been none. FHRAI had requested that hotels and restaurants in green zones to be allowed to operate fully at 100 percent capacity and in orange zones to operate at 50 percent capacity. But as we speak, all dine-in restaurants across India remain closed and only home delivery is allowed.
To discuss the challenges and the road ahead for the F&B sector, Startup Street is in conversation with AD Singh, founder and managing director of Olive Group of Restaurants; Riyaz Amlani, chief executive officer and managing director of Impresario Handmade Restaurants and Ankit Mehrotra, founder and chief executive officer of Dineout.
