Payment processing platform Juspay has suffered a massive data breach. The company has confirmed that as many as 3.5 crore records with masked card data and card fingerprint were breached, while email IDs and phone numbers were also compromised in August 2020.

The company has confirmed that as many as 3.5 crore records with masked card data and card fingerprint were breached, while email IDs and phone numbers were also compromised in August 2020.
The company's clarification came after the matter was first brought to light by Rajshekhar Rajaharia, who says he is an independent cyber-security researcher and founder of a digital marketing firm. Rajshekhar says he came across the data being sold on the dark web.
Swiggy, in a statement issued on the data breach suffered by its payments partner said, “Customer data is of utmost importance to Swiggy and no usable banking information such as the 16 digit card number of our customers was compromised in this incident. The breach detected on a standalone server of our payment processing partner only contained masked card information used for display purposes on merchant websites/apps and cannot be used to complete any financial transaction.”.
